The Mzansi Kwaito and House Music Awards have announced a new host after Zola pulled out.

TV and Radio personality Sbusiso “DJ Sbu” Leope will now do the honours and will prove to be a more than capable replacement.

This means the organisers can now breathe a sigh of relief and put the drama that has surrounded the awards behind them as they prepare for the ceremony.

The 3rd annual Mzansi Kwaito and House Music Awards will take place on the 23rd of November at the lavish Top Arena which is located in Carnival City, Ekurhuleni.

DJ Sbu, who throughout his career has played a prominent role in growing Kwaito and House music in Mzansi, said it was an honour to host the only South African music award show that celebrates and honours Kwaito and House music in our musically gifted country.

“I’m really humbled and grateful for the work the awards are doing to preserve Kwaito,” DJ Sbu said.

“It’s important for us to know that we have nothing to prove and to keep saying Kwaito is not dead because most of the new artists today are influenced by Kwaito.

“Cassper Nyovest, Riky Rick and K.O. rap kwaito. We still have Gqom and Afro-Pop which are both sub genres of Kwaito, so Kwaito is still alive.”

Is dead
Will never die
