THE Moretele Park Jazz Festival saw many artists taking to the stage to entertain the crowd, but three artists – Sun El Music, Amanda Black and Sjava – were nowhere to be found.
Now the promoter of the event, Sam Mhangwani, is on the warpath to get the three to pay back his money.
The co-owner of Drakensberg Promotions said he paid the three artists to perform at the jazz festival in September, but they never showed up to perform.
Sam said the court was his last hope to get his money back.
He told Daily Sun: “We are still pursuing them. Our lawyers followed all the procedures, but none of the artists responded.
“Their double bookings should not have affected my event. They had no excuse for not showing up as I had paid them in full before the event,” he said.
Sam said the double bookings done by managers had to stop as they ended up causing chaos.
He urged artists to manage their bookings strictly.
Sam said he could not work with artists who were not trustworthy.
When contacted by Daily Sun on Sunday, Amanda answered her phone and said: “I will give you the person to talk to.”
She then hung up the phone.
When the SunTeam contacted her again, her phone rang unanswered.
Sun EL’s manager, Mosima Serakalala, said they were arranging for Sun EL to perform another gig as repayment, but Sam told them he would not settle for anything other than a refund.
Sjava said: “I only focus on my music. I don’t book gigs.”
When asked for his manager’s contact details, Sjava said he was busy.
