CHRISTMAS arrived early for Mgqumeni’s gogo Duvile Khumalo (85) yesterday when she received R20 000 and food parcels.
Maskandi star Khuzani Mpungose and businessman Bahle Zondo visited gogo Duvile in Nquthu, northern KZN.
Duvile said life had been difficult since her maskandi star grandson died in 2009.
“Mgqumeni used to take care of me. When he died, my heart was broken because I knew I was going to suffer,” said Duvile.
“I’m alone now. I have no children. All my seven children died. No one takes care of me, but I’m glad there are people like Khuzani who have good hearts.”
Khuzani said he found out that Duvile was suffering and decided to help her.
“I’m not doing this because I want to be seen as a Good Samaritan but from the goodness of my heart,” said Khuzani.
“I’m willing to do it every year because elderly people are close to my heart.”
Bahle told Daily Sun: “I don’t like seeing old people suffer.
“That’s why I decided to contribute when Khuzani contacted me.”
