SHOTA plans to leave a legacy when he finally bows out of the music industry.

He is just two weeks away from releasing his fourth album, Timeless. It was produced in New Jersey, USA by Timmy Regisford.

Speaking to SunBuzz about why he decided to work with an international producer, Shota said: “I am inspired by Busi Mhlongo, the Soul Brothers and Ladysmith Black Mambazo, who were celebrated at home as well as overseas. I want my music to reach as many people as possible and leave a legacy that will remain.”

The album will be released in Mzansi on iTunes before it’s made available to markets in America, Japan, South Korea, China, Europe and elsewhere in Africa.

Asked what people can expect from the album, he said: “I played with a lot of melodies to create a soulful sound. I studied jazz and was at some point a music lecturer, so I tapped into that side of me on this album. It’s still a dance album so people will enjoy it.”

Shota said he has tours scheduled for England and America later this year. “That is my aim. I want to make people dance all over the world.”

Shota, whose real name is Mnqobi Mdabe, was part of the group Shana, with Demor and DJ Black Coffee.
