FORMER Generations actor, Menzi Ngubane, has finally been given a lifeline.
After years of looking for akidney donor, Menzi has finally found a kidney – donated by amlungu.
When Sunday Sun called Menzi, he said: “You journalists are good! How did you find out?
“Yes, I found a kidney and it’s from a whitegentleman,” he said.
Last year, Menzi was admitted to Charlotte Maxeke Hospital in Jozi, where the kidney operation wascarried out.
He said he is grateful to the late Good Samaritan whose body parts saved the lives of seven otherpeople.
“Even though I couldn’t meet the person who saved my life, I’ll use his kidney wisely,” he said.
“From what I’ve been told he was an active guy who lived a healthy life. I want to do the same when I’m back on my feet.”
Asked when he’ll be getting back to work, Menzi told the SunTeam: “I’ve been homebound for about four months because my treatment is so intense.
“But I’m happy to say this is my last month and I’m doing well, so I’m definitely ready to do what I’m good at – which is acting.
“I want to thank everyone who prayed for me, and I’m glad God gave me a second chance.
“Some people wait forever to get a kidney,” he said.
Even though he doesn’t have any specific projects yet, Menzi said he’s weighing his options.
“I’m still in talks with various people, and I know something will come up – but at the moment I’m focusing on my health,” he added.
Currently, the actor is not allowed to go out due to the intensity of his medication.
According to Menzi, spending four months indoors has made him abetter person. His message topatients with kidney failure is that they mustn’t lose hope and should stay focused.
“God is great and has a plan.Everything happens for a reason, so hang in there. If I can do it, anyone can!” he said.
