Actor and singer Nicholas Nkuna.

RESEARCHING the local TV industry has helped actor and singer Nicholas Nkuna (27) bag lots of great jobs.

He told SunBuzz that after spending time overseas working on The Lion King production, he had prepared himself for a lot of challenges.

“Before I could even think about entering the local TV scene I did a lot of research about what was expected of me,” he said.

The Skeem Saam actor, who is popularly known as Nick Soul, said he thinks he is now ready to tackle his musical career.

Before taking the local industry by storm, he was, at the age of 23, cast as Simba in The Lion King tour of England and Ireland.

Nick, who was born in Mbombela, Mpumalanga, was also the youngest actor to get a lead role in Phantom of the Opera. He starred in that musical at Montecasino Teatro between 2011 and 2012.

On Sunday he will be launching his first single, Colours.

“I am very excited because I got to work with an award-winning music producer, Kris J, whose local and international work speaks for itself,” Nick said.

The big launch event will be held at the Hard Rock Cafe in Sandton, Joburg.

“I can’t wait to release my debut album. The songs will be inspired by my life journey with all its blessings, heartache and fun,” he said.
