MAFIKIZOLO’S Reunited SA Tour has been put on ice.
But CEO of Hotsauce Productions, Phiwe Shabangu, rubbished claims that the project is put on hold due to the failure of paying service providers.
“As for claims that we owe our service providers, it’s a blatant lie,” she said.
An insider claimed Hotsauce Productions, the production company that was tasked with the logistics and production of the project, failed to pay service providers.
The source revealed Hotsauce Productions is facing difficulties when it has to pay for service providers and venues hired for the tour.
“The Mafikizolo Tour is in disarray due to financial problems experienced by Hotsauce Productions.
“The company has no money to pay service providers and now those who were tasked to do the job for the tour to be successful have downed their tools after not getting paid,” claimed a close source.
The source also said the production company is still waiting for funds from sponsors and nothing was forthcoming.
“The tour was forced to be halted due to lack of funds and this is frustrating because Mafikizolo’s fans were waiting with bated breath to see their favourite group performing.
“Some have already bought tickets and they’re angry as they want their money back,” an insider said.
Mafikizolo was scheduled to perform in Bloemfontein, Port Elizabeth and for its final leg of the tour at Soweto’s Orlando Stadium.
When contacted, Mafikizolo’s first lady, Nhlanhla Nciza, said:
“Our shows were not cancelled, but postponed to later dates. Our fans should know we will honour all the shows as promised.
“The dates of our performances were changed due to other projects that were already planned to take place at the venues that were booked for us.”
About the postponement of the tour, Phiwe said: “We had to postpone it due to some challenges. In Joburg, it is the issue of the soccer match at Orlando Stadium.
“As for Port Elizabeth, we decided to get a bigger venue as many fans had bought tickets.
“The tour will definitely continue at later dates.”
