Internationally acclaimed Afro-pop duo Mafikizolo have done a lot to separate themselves from the rest.
Having performed in countries that many local artists only dream about, and winning almost all the important awards, Nhlanhla Nciza and Theo Kgosinkwe have claimed their rightful place as superstars.
For the first time since they formed the group, the pair will embark on a six-city tour from next month.
The Mafikizolo Reunited Tour 2015 has been hailed as one of the biggest productions in Mzansi.
To make this tour educational and meaningful, Mafikizolo will host talks with the youth about issues that affect them in their respective provinces and also visit various orphanages. Theo told SunBuzz that they were excited about the tour.
“We have partnered with the Nelson Mandela Foundation for the tour. A portion of our proceedings will be donated to the foundation because we want to continue the legacy left behind by our late president, Nelson Mandela,” he said.
Although being on the road for the next six weeks sounds like a dream for many, for Mafikizolo it means being separated from their families.
“This is going to be challenging but it has to be done. We have made arrangements for our families to join us on some of the days because being away from them is never easy,” said Theo.
The tour will start at Morula Sun in Tshwane on 14 March. It goes to Meropa Casino in Polokwane on 28 March, Cape Town International Convention Centre on 4 April, Rose Gardens Bloemfontein on 11 April and Port Elizabeth on 18 April.
The six-week tour wraps up in Joburg on Freedom Day, 27 April, at Orlando Stadium in Soweto with a huge concert. The concert features 35 artists, including many Mafikizolo has featured on their albums. Tickets for the city tours are R200 at Computicket and R50 for the concert.
