Everyone wants to reach a place where they are confident in themselves.

Singer and actor Kabomo Vilakazi, who is a well-known figure in the entertainment industry, revealed to SunBuzz that getting to that place in his life was not an easy task.

He had to do a lot of introspection and make a choice to work alone on his latest 11-track album, Sekusile.

Kabomo, who is also an actor on Mzansi Magic’s Zabalaza, said he collaborated with a lot of his friends on his two previous albums, Memories Remain and All Things Grey, because he was a little bit afraid to record an album by himself.

But now that he has matured and learned a lot about himself and his craft, he said his fans would be pleased with how his current album was produced and composed.

“I have recorded all the tracks in the album in isiZulu because I have always loved the language.

“Even though I am not of a Zulu heritage, I have always found it to be incredibly expressive and accurately romantic.

“I love how the words come out of your mouth and create such vivid and beautiful imagery.”

He said he would also try to incorporate other South African languages in his future projects.

“I have always been left disappointed when people hear my songs on the radio and say they didn’t know that those were my songs and thought they were American,” he said.

But despite all these, Kabomo said he was still humble and grateful for the support of his fans.

“I really want to thank them for the support because even when I change my sound they still continue to buy my music and that is a really humbling thing to know,” he said.

To promote his album, Kabomo has teamed up with his long-time friend and fellow musician, Afrotraction.

“We are planning a nationwide tour to promote both our albums,” he said.
