A WAR of words has begun between father and son.
It started last week on SABC3’s talk show 3 Talk with with Noeleen Maholwana-Sangqu. DJ Cleo told viewers this dad was mentally ill when quizzed about their relationship, which made headlines last year.
On the show, “DJ Cleo”, real name Tlou Cleopas Monyepao, said: “I don’t mean it in a bad way. I mean there’s different levels of mental illness, his is at the very low scale but he’s not entirely stable.”
The aspiring soccer agent further stated: “Even though it’s on video. It’s like he (Sam) doesn’t remember what he said, so I understand because he is my dad and I have forgiven him.
“I know he didn’t mean to do any harm. We’ve since taken him for a mental assessment . . .”
But last week, speaking to the SunTeam, DJ Cleo’s angry dad Samuel Monyepao, hit back. He said he was watching the show – and Cleo is the one who needs a mental assessment.
“I was actually watching him on 3 Talk while he was saying those things about me. I want to tell people that he was lying through his teeth. He always lies to his sister, saying he always calls me and sometimes visits me,” said Samuel.
He continued: “My situation is still the same as last year – no Father’s Day gifts or wishes, no Christmas gifts from him. I wonder if he will prosper in his new venture of being an soccer agent.
“I’m not mentally ill, and he has insulted me on national TV,” he added.
DJ Cleo’s sister, Lerato Monyepao, expressed feelings of disappointment towards her brother.
“I don’t know him like that – because he’s respectful. I’m lost for words and just disappointed.
“My dad’s not mentally ill!” she said.
DJ Cleo was not available for comment when the SunTeam called him. His phone rang unanswered and he failed to respond to our SMSes.
