THIS year seems to have ushered in new fortunes for veteran kwaito star, Lvovo Derrango.

His dreams of getting more TV gigs are becoming a reality.

L’vovo (real name Thokozani Ndlovu) is set to star in Mzansi Magic drama series, eHostela, as Nhlamvukayigeji.

Insiders said the Iyavaya hitmaker impressed producers with his improvisation skills.

Said an informant: “L’vovo is a natural. We didn’t have tospoon-feed or instruct him every now and again. He’s good.

“We initially wanted to give him a cameo role, but his work ethic made us give him a full-time role.”

Insisted another source: “For a long time L’vovo has been looking forward to his big break in the acting industry.

“I’m certain viewers will be blown away when they see him do his thing.”

In the past, L’vovo has had short stints in the SABC1 soapies Uzalo and Kota Life Crisis.

According to the SunTeam’s informants, eHostela airs from today.

When called for comment, L’vovo said: “What a good experience. I’ve been saying I’m not only a musician but an entertainer.

“I thank God for this acting opportunity. I wish I can grow until I get into Hollywood and Nollywood movies.”

eHostela executive producer, Mmamitse Thibedi, confirmed the star had joined the drama series.

Asserted Mmamitse: “L’vovo plays Nhlamvukayigeji, a member of the brotherhood and right-hand man to the character Vovo.

“We love working with L’vovo, he’s a passionate artist. Hopefully, he’ll grow even stronger as a performer.”

Mmamitse said the drama was about two sons, whose familial relation is bound in secrecy and sealed by guns.

“So, viewers should watch in order to see how it goes down in the secret society of izinkabi,” she said.
