SEASONED actor and TV presenter Fezile Mpela is in hot water.

This as he allegedly slapped his ex-wife Marilyn two weeks ago at their marital home in Northcliff, north of Jozi.

The 44-year-old, who is famous for his roles in top Mzansi soapies Isidingo and 7de Laan, appeared in the Newlands Magistrates Court on 3 October.

He faces a common assault charge. The SunTeam understands he’s due to appear again in the same court later this month.

According to a police statement seen by the SunTeam, Marilyn alleged she was slapped in the face.

Police spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini confirmed a case of common assault was opened.

“The suspect was arrested and charged with common assault and police are investigating,” he said.

A police statement seen by the SunTeam suggests Marilyn states the assault took place after an argument ensued between the two.

Read the summary statement, in part: “The complainant alleged she had an argument with her ex-husband at their shared home and he slapped her once in the face.”

Yesterday, Marilyn refused to comment on the matter. Fezile was not available for comment this week, and did not respond to our SMSes or WhatsApp messages.

NPA spokeswoman Phindi Louw Mjonondwane asked us to send questions on Thursday but did not respond at the time of going to press.
