Fake news that Zola 7 died went viral on social media at the weekend.

TV presenter and producer Zola Hashatsi recently announced that he had started a foundation in honour of legendary kwaito star Zola.

But the icon and his management team have distanced themselves from the foundation, which was going to be aimed at raising funds to assist the icon with his house bill, kids’ school fees as well as his medical bills.

“Z7 Media and Guluva Records herby distance themselves from this foundation. We have no knowledge whatsoever regarding the business of this foundation and we wish to further state that this foundation was established without knowledge of Bonginkosi Dlamini or any of his staff,” read part of the statement.

The team further warned South Africans not to contribute anything towards the foundation.

“We, therefore, urge all South Africans and co-operates to not donate resources to this foundation. Bonginkosi and his staff would like to express disappointment at such a campaign and initiative as it borders on disrespect for him and using his brand for personal gains,” they said.

They further said that they would like to thank Mzansi for their outpouring love towards the icon and added that Zola was not hospitalised as there have been rumours of his hospitalisation in recent weeks.

Regarding people wanting to assist with his medical bills to see specialists, the statement revealed that Zola would only accept the assistance when the time was right.

But for now, he’s grateful for everyone’s concerns and wishes to express that he’s well.

“He is alive and well as he tries to adjust to his new lifestyle having been recently diagnosed with epilepsy,” his team said.

Daily Sun reached out to Zola Hashatsi and the TV presenter told the people’s paper that he is not aware of the statement.

He also added that he meant well and the whole foundation was supposed to be a surprise to the icon.

“I was just lending my helping hand, because remember when they declared him dead a few weeks back I was one of the people who reached out to him to, and in that moment, I spoke to the partner who told me what they needed and how I can assist and the foundation was meant to cover those needs, not bring any shame to him, I honestly meant well,” he said.

The talented presenter said he would love to continue with the foundation, but if they feel like is not what they need then he will put an end to it.

“But I will first go have a sit down with him and hear from him whether this is what he wants or not as he has helped a lot of people in Mzansi and it is time that we also return the favour,” he said
