AWARD-WINNING songwriter and composer Ndumiso Manana is back with a new offering that promises to heal troubled souls this Christmas.
The Songwriter’s Offering Volume 2 is a collection of songs that Manana has written over the years.
Papa Ndu, as he is affectionately known, spoke to Daily Sun about his latest project. He said his inspiration came from his life experiences, Christianity and faith, as well as sermons he came across.
“I started realising my gift of songwriting when I would have dreams of choirs singing songs, only to realise I had never heard them before. In the past, I would lose most of them because I didn’t pay attention. Now, I capture every song that is dropped into my spirit in my sleep, and I’ve mastered the skill.”
He said one important fact about his songs was that he wrote them as he heard them in his spirit.
“I never follow trends – I follow the spirit. Each song will have its own effect on people, depending on the message carried out.”

Papa Ndu decided to stretch his faith last year by taking his show to the Lyric Theatre, and it paid off.
“This became one of the last shows of 2020 as the country went into an unexpected shut down two weeks later. The atmosphere was overwhelming.”
Papa Ndu worked with incredible musicians including Mabongi Fero, Putuma Tiso, Ayanda Shange and Madoda Dee. Legendary gospel artist Sipho Makhabane featured in a song dedicated to those who had lost their loved ones to Covid-19.
Papa Ndu said he was elated that the album had been well-received so far, even reaching the number one spot on the iTunes charts top albums just 24 hours after its release.
