MAYENI, one of the stars of Mzansi Magic’s reality show uThando Nes’thembu, has opened up about the recent public backlash against her.
In the latest episode of the show, which follows the polygamous family, the four wives, MaCele, MaYeni, MaKhumalo and MaNgwabe, played a game where they gave each other compliments coupled with roses.
At the end of the game, all the wives had received roses, except MaYeni.
Soon, social media was abuzz, with viewers accusing her of being mean and bitter.
Speaking to Daily Sun, MaYeni said: “I have seen people’s comments on social media platforms and the majority were not impressed with me. They feel I’m a bad person, that I’m mean and rude.
“I just don’t shy away from the truth and tell it like it is. Unfortunately, people may be offended by this.”
She said she was not bothered by the comments.
“People judged me based on a game, yet they don’t know my reality. They have never walked in my shoes, so they don’t know what they’re talking about,” she said.

MaYeni said people needed to understand this is a reality show.
“This is me and I am not following any script. I am not a pretentious person.
“What you see is what you get. What they saw is my real character and I’m not going to change it to please people,” she said.
But MaYeni’s husband Musa said people’s observations were not far from the truth.
“I’ve seen people’s reactions to MaYeni. I would not say they are right or wrong but there might be a bit of truth in their observations,” Musa said.
“It is unlikely that all these people are wrong. But in the same breath, no one is perfect.”
