PODCASTER MacG is spitting fire following the backlash he faced last week.
The controversial host had an interview with Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarhonyane and it blew up when he spoke about his former relationship with Skeem Saam actress, Amanda Du Pont.
Amanda claimed Jub Jub raped her and she further called on all alleged victims to speak up against Jub Jub and MacG.
People pushed for the podcast to be cancelled and they faced backlash.
On Monday, 6 December, MacG, who was upset, spoke about the backlash and said he had worked hard for the podcast.
“Is it a crime that I am better at my job? When other people sit with other celebrities and they ask questions it’s fine, but I can’t. When I do it’s a problem. And the thing is we built this from scratch, no funding, no help, no celebrity endorsements, nothing,” he wrote.
MacG continued to say that people call his show controversial because they are not used to the truth.
“I was thinking about last night, I was like there’s so much lies right now that when the truth comes out, it’s shocking, it’s controversial. People when I meet them, they’re like ‘your show is controversial’ I’m like ‘why?’ It’s the truth, people are speaking their truth. What’s controversial about that?” he asked.
His co-host Sol Phenduka asked MacG: “Why do you think they hate us so much?”
“Bro, I have no idea what crime and we’ve never wanted anything from this. We’ve always been out of the industry. I’ve never met Minnie Dlamini, Amanda Du Pont, Ayanda Thabethe and I would love for them to come on the show and speak their truth but will they? No,” responded MacG.

On Twitter, Minnie Dlamini-Jones said the interview was “the most degrading piece of content” she wishes she never consumed, adding that she couldn’t even finish it.
Also on Twitter, Ayanda Thabethe said MacG’s podcast has never respected women.
MacG said Amanda made false accusations against him and said he will take the legal route with her.
“I hate to talk about Amanda because I really do sympathise with her. It’s horrific, we do not promote that. I’ve never been raped so I can never claim to assume I know what she’s going through so I do sympathise with her and if it is true, then Jub Jub must face the course of justice.
“But there’s an element of people making false accusations without any recourse and we don’t have room for that.
“I do not promote GBV and rape at all. If one day I have a daughter, I don’t want her to come into a society where there are things like rape happening,” said MacG.
MacG’s lawyers served Amanda with a cease and desist letter for posting defamatory statements about MacG on social media.
“We demand that you immediately cease and desist from making these slanderous, defamatory, derogative, false and frivolous statements against our client and from insinuating that our client has raped women,” it read.
Amanda’s lawyers, Marweshe Inc. Attorneys responded to MacG’s lawyers saying Amanda will not apologise.
“Our client has done no such things. Any reputational harm your client may have suffered (of which we are not aware) could not only be attributable to your client’s own unacceptable behaviour,” reads part of the letter drafted and signed by Marweshe Inc. Attorneys,” they said.
MacG has since lost sponsorship from Amstel because of the backlash.
