By Tuesday evening, fans had already raised their dissatisfaction on the exclusion of maskandi stars.
On social media, Buyi Sibiya wrote: “Where is Ntencane and Khuba (Khuzani)?”
Then Sizwe Ndlovu Kwasjula commented: “King Gcokama Elisha Manqele Isimololo.”
Minnie Cooper Sthembile wrote: “Why is maskandi not included? Where is Khuzani? What kind of top 10 is this?”
And since there were no maskandi artists on the list, they decided to vote for gospel artist, Jumbo.
Gobizitha Ntshangase wrote: “As maskandi fans, we have decided to vote for Jumbo. We don’t want amapiano.”
Syathokoza Ndlovu said: “Let’s vote for Jumbo; he has never disrespected maskandi fans.”
Last year, the biggest competition was between Mthandeni “Igcokama Elisha” Manqele and Khuzani Mpungose, with the competition being won by Khuzani.
Fans were expecting them to compete once again, but they showed no interest.
When approached by Daily Sun, they both made it clear that they would not be a part of the competition as they wanted to give up-and-coming artists a chance.
