Zandile joined Ukhozi FM in 2008 as a content producer, and left with 10 years of experience as a programmes manager.
In September, Daily Sun learnt that her contract had not been renewed. An insider had told the People’s Paper she “had a five-year contract with the SABC, but it was not renewed. It was said that she had been protecting a presenter for a long time.”
In October, she started serving her one-month notice period, that ended up being cut short.
At the time, a source told Daily Sun that “someone was out to get her”.
Spokeswoman Gugu Ntuli confirmed Zandile’s replacement, and said: “The SABC can confirm that the recruitment process for a new Ukhozi FM programmes manager is underway. The SABC is not in a position to discuss the number or names of candidates. Recruitment will be finalised once all due processes have been concluded. With regards to Zandile, it would be very unprofessional of the SABC to discuss contractual matters of a former employee. The SABC reiterates that she was not dismissed, but her contract came to an end.”
