THE Daily Show host and comedian Trevor Noah has been nominated for the South African Literary Awards (SALA).
- He is nominated under the Youth Literature Award for his book, which was published for kids last year.
Nominated alongside Trevor is Nerine Ahlers for Die Rietrotte Van Rietvallei Hoer, Derick van der Walt for Toring Van Jasmyn and Edyth Bulbring for The Choice Between Us.
The SALAs are held to honour authors, translators, poets and other literary practitioners who made and make a contribution in the South African literary landscape.
Other nominees include Nandipha Nomsobo for Katana, Katana! and Niki Daly for It’s Jamela! for the Children’s Literature Award.

The Novel Award nominees are Fiona Snyckers for Lacuna and Nthikeng Mohlele for Illumination.
The First-time Published Author Award nominees are Trevor Sacks for Lucky Packet, Sihle Bolani for We Are The Ones We Need, Lize Albertyn-Du Toit for Kinders Van Spookwerwe and Richard Wadley for Waterberg Echoes.
The Literary Translators Award, Posthumous Literary Award, Chairperson’s Literary Award and Lifetime Achievement Literary Award among others will be announced on the day of the awards.
The awards will take place virtually on 7 November.
