ALTHOUGH he plays arrogant and aggressive characters on TV, Nyaniso Dzedze said he’s actually polite and loving.
The actor, who is originally from the Eastern Cape but now lives in Joburg, told Daily Sun he used to think people didn’t like him.
He said people avoided him, but he later realised it was because of the characters he played. “People think I’m the kind of person who is full of himself and has a bad attitude. Even my family was surprised to see me playing these characters on TV,” he said.
“Sometimes, fans would approach me fearfully, thinking I would show them attitude, but then I would talk to them so they could get to know Nyaniso.”
The actor is currently playing the role of Dr Dhlomo on e.tv’s telenovela Durban Gen.

He said his new character was a bit different from previous parts he played.
“Dr Dhlomo understands that people want Durban Gen to be perfect but those who are expected to save lives also have their personal problems.
“Viewers at home are shown the life journey of the people they trust with their lives.”
Nyaniso revealed his role was initially meant to be a small one.
“We didn’t think the role would be as broad as it is becoming, but the role has grown and people must expect more drama,” he said.
“That is why I didn’t relocate to Durban where the show is shot. I fly back and forth between Joburg and Durban.”
