ACTRESS Thuso Mbedu has scored herself an international nomination for her role as Cora Randall on the international hit series, The Underground Railroad.
The actress has been nominated for Outstanding Actress, TV Movie/Limited Series at the Black Reel Awards for Television, annually to honour and recognise the excellence of African Americans, as well as the cinematic achievements of the African Diaspora, in the network television and cable streaming industry.
She’s been nominated with Nicole Beharie, Cynthia Erivo and Tessa Thompson.
Speaking at the nomination announcement, Black Reel Awards founder Tim Gordon said: “As we celebrate our fifth year, the quality of programming both on network television and the streaming services continues to increase exponentially. We congratulate all of this year’s nominees and look forward to the most competitive season in our awards history.”
Thuso made her debut last month on the series, which is directed by award-winning director Barry Jenkins, and since then she’s been receiving praise from all over the world including from renowned TV host Oprah Winfrey, who said Thuso gave a performance of a lifetime.

The much-anticipated film will be directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, who most recently directed the critically acclaimed blockbuster, The Old Guard.
According to the Deadline, the story will follow Nanisca, the general of an all-female military unit, and Nawi. Together they will fight enemies who threaten to destroy everything they live for.
