THE sky is the limit for award-winning comedian Siyanda Maphumulo.

Just a month after starting Gonzo FM, he’s already attracting big advertisers like Hollywoodbets.

Last week, he surprised listeners when he told them they could win airtime or data from the company, but they’d have to speak Isidubada.

“Isidubada is not an official language. But I need listeners to be creative in order to win data and airtime,” he said.

When asked about his partnership with the company, he said the company approached him.

“They told me they’d like to work with me. What I like most about this is that they did not give me any limitations,” said Siyanda.

“Instead, they allowed me to be creative.”

He said he was hoping to get as many sponsors as possible

“Currently, I’m using my cellphone to do everything and that’s why Gonzo FM cannot be live.

“My wish is to get microphones and other resources to make this radio station live. This would also enable listeners to call while we are on air. At the moment, my listeners can’t call because I’m using the same cellphone,” he said.

“This means if they were to call while we were recording, the entire station would shut down.”

Hollywoodbets, which has also worked with the likes of Nomzamo Mbatha, told Daily Sun they chose to work with Gonzo FM because it had huge potential.

Sandisiwe Bhengu from the company said: “Siyanda is a young and talented comedian.

‘We are committed to helping him grow his radio station.

“We chose to work with him because he’s one of the promising up-and-coming artists.

“We’re planning to work with him for a very long time.”
