SINGER Berita Khumalo has hit out at cyber bullies who have been targeting her.

She said she was being bullied because people attributed things said by her husband, music executive Nota Baloyi, to her.

Berita told Daily Sun that people didn’t have respect for the fact that they were different.

“I’m a private person whose sole focus is on music. People know me for my music, not controversies.

“So it bothers me when I’m involved in things that have nothing to do with me.

“I don’t want people to shift their attention from my music,” she said.

Berita said although she usually didn’t address these matters, she wanted to set the record straight.

“I don’t want people to think they can cross the line with me because I believe boundaries are important. Nothing Nota says in public has got anything to do with me and I want to keep it that way. We are two different people.”

Berita said despite the bullying, good things were happening in her life.

“I’ve been nominated for three awards at this year’s Afro Music Awards and I’m also making a big announcement soon about my new company,” she said.

“I want people to focus on the good things happening around me because I don’t like negativity. The announcement will help a lot of women in music, especially during the pandemic.”
