THE entertainment industry has suffered yet another blow.

This after three amapiano artists – Killer Kau, Mpura and Khanya Hadebe – died in a car accident at the weekend.

They were travelling to a gig in Rustenburg, North West with two friends.

A source close to the situation said the driver hit a truck head on.

“All I know is that the driver does not drink. I think this was just a terrible mistake. They were probably late and trying to make it to the gig.”

He said they had a candlelit prayer for their late friends on Monday, 9 August.

“We had to celebrate their lives the way they lived. We had a prayer at our weekly Mogodu Monday spot in Mapetla, then turned up. It felt like they would just walk in and start dancing,” said the source.

Killer Kau’s sister, Xoli Hlatshwayo, told Daily Sun that officers from Marikana cop shop confirmed his death.

“We will go to Rustenburg on Wednesday, and speak to the media thereafter.”

His manager Mpho Makua told Daily Sun that he would prepare a statement.

“I’m still waiting to speak to his family so they can give me the go-ahead,” he said.

Details of the horrific incident were sketchy, but messages of condolences had started to pour in from industry colleagues.

DJ Lady Du posted a photo of Killer Kau and Mpura on her Instagram page.

She captioned it: “I will never be the same again. God, what did we do? Why Father, where will I get the strength? I’m beyond broken.”

Mr JazziQ tweeted a photo posing with Killer Kau, captioned: “Killer Kau. Rest easy my king.”

Riky Rick also posted a photo of the three: “My heart is broken. I loved you boys so much.”

DJ Sbu said: “Just woke up to the sad news of their passing. I would like to send my deepest condolences to their family, friends, colleagues and dear fans. Lalani ngoxolo young kings. The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

Social media users also shared their messages of condolences.

B King wrote: “There’s no death that crushes me down like that of a young person who was trying hard to make the best out of his life. Mpura Killer Kau.”
