Bohlokwa Mpiti says landing a role on Rhythm City was a surprise.

The new face on Rhythm City, Bohlokwa Mpiti, says joining the e.tv soapie is a dream come true.

The 24-year-old from Diepkloof in Soweto made his debut on the soapie two weeks back.

He’s Zak, Ziyanda and Khulekani’s secret love child.

Bohlokwa told SunBuzz he hadn’t expected to get the role.

“When I sent my audition tape it wasn’t perfect. It was a mess, really.

“But I did it anyway and submitted it on the last day.

“When I got an email from them weeks later, I couldn’t believe it.

“I’m living my dream. I wake up every morning and go to my dream job. I appreciate that, which is why I’ll forever cherish this character.”

Bohlokwa studied directing and writing at Afda in 2017, but started acting in high school.

“In grade 8 we had a career day and everyone had to choose what they wanted to be.

“I didn’t know what I wanted to be, but I’m a strong believer in God, so I prayed.

“I asked Him to show me what I was supposed to be. I took drama as one of my subjects in grade 10, and I’ve been acting since then.”

The rising actor said viewers will grow to love Zak and some will relate to him.

“Zak from KZN is in Joburg to find his mum, who left him at a church 20 years ago.

“So if there’s anything he needs right now, it’s his mother’s love.”
