THE Red Ants company has dropped Senzo Meyiwa’s daughter, Namhla.

This follows the death of owner Johan Bosch, who was buried last Thursday after suffering from Covid-19.

Senzo’s mother and Namhla’s guardian, Ntombifuthi Meyiwa, told Daily Sun they thought the company would take care of her.

“The Red Ants have been taking care of Namhla financially since 2020. But this month they failed to donate. When I contacted them, they told me Johan is dead and they were not going to pay because he’s no more.

“Johan’s financial assistance was everything to Namhla. His death has killed her dreams. I don’t know what to do. As it is, Namhla has no money for transportation to school.”

She said the contributions were used to buy lunch, toiletries and transport. “I’m asking donations from any good Samaritan.”

Last January, the company committed to contribute to Namhla until she went to university, and began to do so the next month. Former PSL coach Ace Ngcobo had also committed to pay R1 500 until she turned 21.

Ace said: “We are still committed to helping Senzo’s daughter. The money is deposited in their bank account.”

Last year company CEO Fezile Balintulo said they would finance Namhla until she got her degree.

Red Ants spokesman Oupa Radebe said: “Donating to orphaned kids was Johan’s project. Now that he is no more, everything has to be suspended. We are waiting for the new management to show us the way forward.”
