GHANAIAN rapper D-Black has released his much-anticipated studio album, Loyalty.
The rapper, whose real is Desmond Blackmore, told SunBuzz: “I started working on this album after taking a five-year hiatus from making music.
“I wrote most of the songs while I was stuck in Los Angeles, US, after the pandemic hit.
“When everything eased down and I was able to go back home.
“The first thing I did was get into the studio and start recording. I collaborated with my favourites from Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, East Africa and the US.”
D-Black had ample time and wrote so many songs he ended up creating two albums.
“Loyalty is just the first one for 2021. I’ll be dropping Disloyalty before the end of the year,” he said.
The 34-year-old said he had an amazing time working on the album.
“This is because my creative process this time was very different.
“I’d travelled to numerous cities, towns and resorts with my team and sound engineer recording music in different places. This means every record has a memory behind it.
“I’m telling the world that African hip hop, highlife, amapiano, house and Afro beats are alive and about to explode on the world stage. Loyalty by D-Black is just a tip of the iceberg.”

D-Black, in South Africa to collaborate with local artists, said his stay has been amazing.
“I love South Africa so much! The people are amazing, warm and welcoming and the music is out of this world,” said the rapper.
“I’m here to add some of that Mzansi flavour to my songs.
“I love the sound, and collaboration brings unity and growth. So far I’ve worked with the likes of Anzo, DJ Tira, Semi T and Malemon, and I have more upcoming work.”
Because he fell in love with amapiano, D-Black said his next album will be half-Afro beats and half- amapiano.
The rapper – whose single Enjoyment Minister earned him the number one spot on the Nigerian charts, becoming the first Ghanaian to do so – said his journey had been worthwhile.
“Music is my calling, and it’s all that I have. So far everything has been amazing, although there are hiccups every now and then. But God guides me and pulls me up,” he said.
