FORMER Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu FC player, Fees Moloi, has vowed to fight for sports presenter Robert Marawa to be reinstated by the SABC.
Moloi has accused the public broadcaster of using Marawa’s talent, and then unfairly dismissing him.
“I strongly feel that his dismissal was unfair. The SABC had a personal vendetta against him. For this reason, I shall fight for his reinstatement,” he said.
Moloi’s call has been echoed by a number of high-profile people in the arts and sport sectors, who are apparently planning a total shutdown of the SABC.
Bhuti Ntonki, a former coach in the Eastern Cape, said: “We only learnt on that particular Friday that Marawa would not be on air. We later learnt that he was dismissed via SMS and another presenter had replaced him.”

Ntonki said they tried to get answers from the SABC, but got no response.
“We have now decided to embark on a total shutdown of the SABC. Our demand is simple and clear: we want Marawa back on radio. We are not communicating with Marawa, but with the SABC. This about our needs as listeners. It’s what we want.”
Marawa used to host Marawa Sports Worldwide on Metro FM and Radio 2000.
In July, he revealed that he had been dismissed over an SMS.
Marawa told Daily Sun that he recently learnt of the planned shutdown.
“I’ve gone on the record to say the decision to get rid of me had nothing to do with my work, but was an external decision. I wish the CEO and cabal there the best.”
SABC spokeswoman Gugu Ntuli said she was not aware of the protest and could not comment.
