FORMER Ukhozi FM DJ Ngizwe Mchunu showed up at Randburg the Magistrates court with four armed to the teeth bodyguards.

The all-female security detail caused quite a stare when they showed up brandishing rifles and pistols outside the court building.

Those who were queueing outside could only watch and capture the dramatic scenes on their cellphones.

The staunch supporter of former president Jacob Zuma appeared briefly in court as his matter was swiftly postponed to next year January.

He was appearing on the charge of incitement to commit public violence and contravention of the disaster management act.

Though there were no huge crowds to support him at court on Thursday. He was flanked by his right-hand man, Bonginkosi Khanyile who is also facing similar charges, in Durban.

When Mchunu was asked whether or not he was guilty on the charges levelled against him, he said, “Absolutely not, I will never be guilty, this is my country I love it so much and I’m here to protect my country.”

When asked about a possible breach of his conditions by addressing the media, Mchunu said he was not breaching any conditions imposed on him by the court.

What is important is that we are facing a big crisis in the country where our country is being looted in terms of economic structure as well as political violence that is happening in the country.

There is so much corruption that has been identified in our own country, therefore as I am standing here, I’m happy I’m going to go back and tell the people to go vote on 1 November 2021.

Mchunu praised the justice system and said that if it were up to the people who arrested him, he would still be in custody.

“Even Bonginkosi here would be rotting in jail.”

Mchunu is confident that he and Khanyile will win their respective court cases.

The former radio host was released on R2000 bail in July after the defense attorneys convinced the court that he is not a flight risk and would not evade trial.
