Hosted by seasoned presenter Zola Mhlongo and Moshe Ndiki the first ever Amapiano awards took place at the Sandton Convention Centre on Saturday, 23 October.

Dupped as the Amapiano biggest night, leading lady Kamo Mphela delivered an electrifying performance.

Other prominent acts who performed at the event include Focalistic, Mr JazziQ, Pabi Cooper, Reece Madlisa & Zuma, DJ Sumbody, Boohle, Sir Trill, Semi Tee, Busta 929, Kwiish SA and Njelic.

The red carpet was handled by none other than YouTube sensation Lasizwe Dambuza.

The event will be broadcasted on SABC 1 on a later date and founder of the awards, Qhubani Ndlovu in a statement said they were excited to have a brand as big as SABC 1 becoming part of the awards and taking up its role as the authority of popular culture.
