PRESENTER and actress Ntando Duma has scored a major gig.

The media personality, who has been part of popular shows such as Rhythm City, is the new host of SABC 1 dance reality show Dance Yo Dumo. It searches for a new dance craze, and to crown dancers as creators of a viral trend for R250 000.

According to producers, Dance Yo Dumo is a high-end, dance reality competition where three celebrity mentors battle to form the best crew.

“Contestants are presented with themes each week, and expected to put together tailored choreography to tell the ultimate Mzansi dance story. Their tools are creativity and SA’s most ambitious wannabe dance stars. What stands in their way is limited time and the judges,” read a statement from the channel.

“The show celebrates South Africa’s colourful dance heritage by fusing iconic trends with the innovative spirit of the new generation. This is where viral dance trends across the decades are updated and used to show viewers our passion for the culture, plus tell the story of how Mzansi loves to move.”

The mentors will be dance creator and social media influencer Chad Jones, Amapiano Awards street dance winner Hope Ramafalo and internationally acclaimed dancer Justin de Nobrega.

Producers further said viewers can look forward to seeing resident judges, choreographer Bontle Modiselle, musician and dancer Costa Titch as well as weekly guest appearances.

Dance Yo Dumo starts on Sunday, 6 March, at 6pm on SABC 1.
