MEDIA personality, Nonhle Thema, has thanked everyone who supported her and the family during her dad Derrick Thema’s passing.

The legendary journalist died on 31 December and was buried last Thursday, 6 January in Meadowlands, Soweto, in a send-off attended by family members and close friends.

The actress and businesswoman took to social media to thank everyone who supported them during the tough time.

“Thank you so much to every single person and soul who’s shown love and support to me and my family during this difficult time. God bless you abundantly,” she wrote on Instagram.


Nonhle has also been posting pictures of herself and her dad since his passing. Her most recent posts included of her and her dad.

“I love you DAD, so sorry. Wish I could reverse time. I’m now watching over you, I can’t sleep with you on my mind. I want you to be safe,” she said.

“Dad, I’m here if you’re looking for me. I love you. I’m watching over you in heaven. I can’t sleep, I got you. I will make sure you rest in peace. Your spirit is with me,” she also wrote.

At her dad’s funeral, Nonhle described her dad as loving and passionate.

“He wanted the best for us and was always present in our lives. I don’t remember ever needing something. I’ll forever be grateful to him as he taught us a lot. He was a soft, brilliant man and a pioneer. I’m going to miss him a lot. As he is laid to rest today, I’ll continue his legacy and ensure it lives on,”
