IT WAS a ceremony nothing short of glitz, glamour and high fashion as winners of the Royalty Soapie Awards were announced on Saturday, 18 September.
The spotlight was on most newcomers, with newbie DiepCity leading the pack with seven nods.
One notable win went to actress Lebohang Mpyana, who plays fan favourite Khelina, as she walked away with the Viewers Choice Best Actress Award while actress Lillian Dube was honoured with the life-time Achievement Award.
The popular ceremony took place at the Radisson Hotel and Convention Centre, Johannesburg, OR Tambo.
It was hosted by actress Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa and popular comedian and radio personality Felix Hlophe, while TV and radio personality Candice Modiselle handled the red-carpet duties.

Founder of the awards Winnie Ntshaba went on to congratulate all the winners.
“My heartiest salutation to all the winners. These awards recognise and celebrate the diligence and devotion to your craft.
“Notwithstanding the difficult period we find ourselves in due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we still managed to attain a lot. It is through film and television that life becomes. And for that, we thank our cast and crew, who continue to redefine, reinvent and re-imagine their crafts for the viewers.”
Speaking about the awards’ five-year anniversary, Winnie said it had been a fantastic journey of seeing a dream coming to fruition.
“As an actress, I saw the need to create a platform to celebrate the hard work of individuals and productions behind the daily TV drama industry, and their success. “Make the most of your Royalty Soapie Award, and wear your title with respect,” she said.
The star-studded ceremony was attended by Mzansi’s A-listers and top fashionistas including Thembi Seete, Linda Mtoba, Thuli Phongolo, Phuti Khomo, Khaya Dladla, Tumi Morake and Sophie Lichaba.
