A YOUNG poet, Nqobile “Nqanawe” Duma (26), is preparing to host a first ever awards – the Amaciko Awards.
Nqanawe, who is the founder and event organiser of these awards is to financially support artists from all forms of art.
He said each category winner will get an award and money.
“With these Awards we are trying to financially support the artists," he said.
"The creative industry is the most affected during lock down as a result these Awards will financially support them. As a result we have received a sponsorship from a medical company. They felt artists need all the kind of financial support they can get."
There are 30 categories and they including Best DJ, Best upcoming artist, Best Radio presenter, Best Comedian, Best Photographer, Best producer, Best song of the year, Best newcomer, Best Drawing artist, Best Gospel Artist, Best Amazon, Best Choral Music, Best Music Promoter, Best Community Radio station to name a few.
“Entries are already opened and they will be closing on the 30th January 2021. We are therefore calling upon all artists to take this opportunity and enter in this competition. The voting lines will open on the 1st February 2021 until 30 April 2021. The event will be on the 29 May 2021 but we haven't decided on the venue,” said Nqanawe.
