IDOLS runner-up Mthokozisi Ndaba has shed his bad-boy image for Christ.
In an exclusive interview, he told Daily Sun he was fighting his alcoholic demons and had given his life to Jesus.
In July, Mthokozisi told the SunTeam he quit drinking after his three-year battle with depression and substance abuse.
“I stopped drinking in March, as the lockdown started and had no access to it.
“At the time, it was easy to quit as the bottle stores were closed and I had a willing heart,” he said.
“But now that lockdown regulations have been relaxed, the road to recovery has proven to be difficult.

“I guess it’s because alcohol is freely available.
“People offer me drinks because they know me to be a drunkard.”
Mthokozisi said he’s been sober for almost a year now.
“I’m proud to say I always find ways to gently turn down these offers. I’ve managed to stay sober for eight months.
“I know we’re entering the festive season and the temptation will be stronger, but I won’t give up the fight.
“Whenever I feel the urge to drink, I think of all the things I’ve lost because of alcohol. My wife Nandipha and son have reminded me of who I am.”
Mthokozisi will be releasing a song titled Somlandela on 27 November.
“Through this song, I’m trying to preach to myself.
“It also serves as my daily motivation and reminder to follow His ways, no matter what,” he said.
