GOSPEL singer, TV presenter and actress Mmatema Moremi-Gavu is expecting her second child.

She and her husband Tshepo Gavu announced the happy news on her YouTube channel on Monday, 20 September.

Speaking to Daily Sun, she said: “What prompted me to take the pregnancy test was that I had two full packets of pads I had not used in two months.

“So, I decided to take the test and it revealed that I was pregnant.”

Mmatema said she was not expecting to get pregnant again so soon after her two-year-old son was born.

“Not that we were not trying. I was not on any contraceptives, so it was bound to happen. People usually say after the first baby, you become too fertile so I was expecting this but it came sooner than I thought it would,” she said.

Mmatema said she and her husband were hoping for a girl.

“My husband is so excited. He has been hoping for us to get pregnant, waiting for it.

“I’m also hoping for a girl. I think that would be nice,” she said.

“If we do get a boy, that won’t be a problem. I don’t mind being a soccer mum.

“I think it would be cool as I’ve lived around girls for a long time.

“I’m still hoping for two more kids before calling it a day but my husband doesn’t want any more. I will see how I can change his mind about that.”

Mmatema said she was very excited to be pregnant at the same time as her sister Tirelo Masenda.

“I am overjoyed. We get to experience going through this journey together and she happens to be one of my best friends,” she said.
