MISS Mamelodi Sundowns 2021 will be crowned on Monday, 6 December at the Sandton Convention Centre.

The top 20 will compete for the title and Miss Mamelodi Sundowns 2020, Kadija Makhanya, will crown her successor on the night.

Fans were encouraged to vote for their favourite beauty queen before the voting lines closed on 2 December and the top 20 has took over the Miss Sundowns social media pages to engage with their supporters to show why they are worthy of their votes.

This year marks 10 years since the pageant started and Lebo Mashau, logistics co-ordinator for Miss Mamelodi Sundowns told Daily Sun they are excited about the milestone.

“This year is a milestone and marks the tenth Miss Mamelodi Sundowns anniversary since its inception in 2011. It is quite huge for us, it is a special moment, more so because of the time we find ourselves in at the moment,” said Lebo.

She continued to say that they wanted to celebrate the 10 years of Miss Mamelodi Sundowns in a big way but couldn’t.

“We would’ve loved to have a lot of guests and supporters to come be with us because 10 years is a big deal, but obviously, due to Covid-19, we cannot. However, the fact that we are going ahead to celebrate out 10th year means a lot for us,” she said.

Lebo said the theme for this year is I Am Empowered.

“The theme is about empowering young girls, which is what we were focused on and celebrating in the past years,” she said.

She said there will be a lot of performances on the day, but they cannot reveal them yet because they are a surprise.
