Another local artist has passed away.
Singer and actress Zanele Maseko of the famed early 2000 multi-award winning Afro soul group Mina Nawe has died. The news of her untimely death was announced on the group's social media accounts two days ago.
It said: "It is with shattered hearts to announce that we've lost a big part of who we are as a band and family. Our songstress Zanele 'Mazet' Maseko passed away this morning. We humbly ask for your support during this difficult time as we hold hands with her family, friends & colleagues."
She was 36-years-old at the time of her death. She had been in hospital for a week after complaining with a headache.
Her brother, Thabo Maseko said they were hoping to lay her to rest on Saturday.
The group has not created music for a few years now after announcing they were going their separate ways in 2009. Their 2006 hit single, Where I wanna Be, is still getting a lot of airplay on various radio stations.
