The late Brenda Fassie would be proud to know that someone wants to take her legacy to new heights.

Botswana singer and dancer Maxy KhoiSan, whose real name is Olebile Sedumedi, has been getting a lot of applause from her new Mzansi fans on social media.

Some said her voice sounds just like that of the late Mabrrr.

Maxy has been a traditional Tswana and Khoisan musician for more than 17 years in her home country.

She told SunBuzz she’s aware of her newfound fame in Mzansi after she recorded a song with top local artists.

“I am an original, rare talent, plus I work really hard to have everything that I have,” she said.

Maxy is featured on the Master KG song Tshinada together with Makhadzi.

So far, the song has reached three million viewership on YouTube and is still growing.

Maxy says she is also a versatile artist who can sing anything.

“It’s an honour and a blessing to me, as I am also a big fan of the late Brenda Fassie.

“Should I be given a chance to work on her upcoming film, I wouldn’t really mind,” she said.

She said she’s been speaking to Brenda’s son, Bongani.

“We do talk and he’s a great, talented young man indeed.”

Maxy said she’s still open to collaborating with both local and international artists.

“I will be working with many great artists, but I like keeping my work as a surprise to my fans so that it’s more fun when I release it ,” said the singer.
