Actor Ntobeko “Sishii” Sishi is thrilled that he gets to live out his dreams on TV.
The actor and musician, who plays Ntokozo on the Mzansi Magic drama series, said music ideas would come to him while he was at work.
He was an intern at an investment bank in 2018.
Speaking to SunBuzz, Sishii said: “I realised music was my calling when ideas would come when I was at work.
“Some came during lectures, and that’s when I realised I was meant to be an artist.
“This is because I wasn’t even studying art. I have a Bachelor of Commerce in economics and finance from the University of Cape Town and an honours in entrepreneurship. However, a lot of ideas of songs came during those times.”
Sishii recently released his debut single IDC (I Don’t Care) two weeks ago.
“It was inspired by a heartbreak I went through,” he said.
“I was in a relationship with a person who treated me badly and hurt me.
“At the time I thought the way they were treating me was fine, because I wasn’t a perfect person myself.
“Now I realise that I didn’t deserve to be treated like that.”
Speaking about his acting career, Sishii said: “I started acting in school. I sang and acted in musicals.
“I realised that people were moved by my acting. Some would cry as well.
“So that’s when I knew acting was for me. I used my body as a tool to connect with people. That’s what arts is to me.”
His first acting gig was with SABC2 teen drama Signal High as Zuko.
“After Signal High I decided to focus on school. I was still studying.
“After a while I auditioned for quite a lot of shows.
“That’s actually how I was cast for Gomora.
“I auditioned for Bomb Productions some time back but didn’t get that role.
“Luckily, Seriti Films, the production company for Gomora, saw my audition clip for Bomb and called me.
“I auditioned for them and the rest is history.”
Sishii said he’ll release a full body of work before the end of the year.
