The suspension of Ukhozi FM presenter Khathide ‘Tshatha’ Ngobe has been welcomed by listeners.

UKHOZI FM presenter, Khathide “Tshatha” Ngobe, has been suspended after he accused the station of corrupt and fraudulent activities.

News of Tshatha’s suspension was confirmed by SABC acting spokeswoman Mmoni Seapolela.

“Mr Khathide Ngobe is still unscheduled pending an internal investigation. It concerns the SABC and Mr Khathide and the details of the investigation will not be explicitly discussed in the public space due to a contractual relationship.

“Once the investigation is completed, the corporation will communicate directly with the individual concerned and relevant stakeholders. The SABC and Ukhozi FM would like to conclude the investigation in line with set internal processes and policies,” she said.

Ukhozi listeners were happy over the suspension on social media.

  • Thobeka Firstborn said she no longer listened to the station.

“He’s rude and mocks us. He’s the reason I stopped listening to Ukhozi FM. He’s proven to be in control of that radio station. If they remove him, maybe I can start listening to Ukhozi FM again.”

  • Sakhile SK Mbatha wrote: “I saw this one coming. He acted unprofessionally. If he gets a second chance, he needs to watch his mouth.”
  • Ndumiso Ncube said: “He can’t separate work and his friendships.”
  • Musa Steve wrote: “He went overboard. He disrespects listeners.”

Last week, Daily Sun reported how Tshatha disclosed that he and Ukhozi FM management conspired in 2005 to cheat Shwi Nomtekhala’s Ngafa.

“Shwi Nomtekhala won the competition, but Malaika’s 2Bob was named the winner and Shwi was placed second,” he said on Facebook.

Listeners warned him about this, but he responded with insults.

Last January, Tshatha was suspended after he told one listener he was “talking s**t and his head is spinning with kak” and another listener that he was “drunk and full of s**t”.
