THE late former Ukhozi FM radio DJ Welcome “Bhodloza” Nzimande’s big wish has come true.

Bhodloza, the former radio DJ and station manager’s book, Ingulube Encane, has been completed by top authors Sibonga Maphumulo, Nonhlanhla Majola and Professor Deuteronomy “DBZ” Ntuli.

They were working with Bhodloza on the book when he was still alive.

Bhodloza, also known as Ingulube Encane, died in January.

Sibonga said that they were asked by Bhodloza to write the book about his life when he was still alive.

“It was our biggest dream with Bhodloza to write and publish the book to inspire people through his life,” said Sibonga.

“He died when we were almost finished writing his book and were preparing to publish it. We are working on the second book about Bhodloza’s funeral, to be released soon.”

Bhodloza was also known as the father of traditional music on Ukhozi and SABC1’s Ezodumo traditional music show. He joined Ukhozi in 1978 as a radio DJ, and spent 19 years behind the mic. He was station manager for 13 years before he took early retirement in 2010.

Bhodloza’s wife, Zandile Nzimande, told Daily Sun she was over the moon that the book, one of her husband’s major wishes, is finally out.

“Everything written in the book about Bhodloza is true. It was written when he was still alive. He was my hero and I was surprised to see that he had a lot of fame after he died,” she said.

Bhodloza was hailed as a hero in developing both radio and traditional music. He surprised many when he grew Ukhozi FM listenership from about three million to about six million in 2006.

He was conferred with an honorary Doctorate of Philosophy in visual and performing arts by Durban University of Technology in 2018.
