MISS SA Lalela Mswane has arrived in Israel and her followers are rooting for her.

On Sunday, 28 November was her first day.

According to her post, she’s already met her fellow contestants and today, Monday 29 November, she will be doing her registration.

Taking to her social media platforms on Sunday, she wrote: “First day of Miss Universe 2021 and oh how wonderful it was! Met a lot of my fellow contestants and these women are absolutely phenomenal! Cannot wait for what’s to come! Tomorrow is registration day!”

Nhlanhla Zwane congratulated her and said: “Block the noise and shine. We are rooting for you, Lalela.”

“I absolutely adore you and I am rooting for and praying for you,” wrote Nkumbulo Mthi.

Another Instagram user, Masemola, wrote: “The stage is yours. Play, have fun and represent us. Rooting for you.”

But not everybody was happy about Lalela’s decision.

The Palestine Solidarity Alliance (PSA), the South African government and other political parties had called on Lalela to boycott Miss Universe, but she remained resolute.

When the PSA learnt about Lalela’s departure they wrote:

“It’s with extreme sadness that we see Lalela ignore the calls of the South African people and government to join the cultural boycott of Apartheid Israel. While this breaks our hearts to see that Lalela has sided with Apartheid, what’s even worse is that she is claiming that she is representing our country.

“Let us remind Lalela that she does not represent South Africa or South Africans. She’s going against the wishes of the people of South Africa and our government. She’s misrepresenting us. The South African flag is not yours @Lalelamswane to fly during this event.”
