AMAPIANO queen Lady Du is a debt-free artist.
She said she’s mastered the art of saving and buys everything cash.
In her recent Instagram post, she wrote: “I have never bought anything on credit in my life. I don’t know how it even works. Everything I own, I’ve saved for. Those that know me, know my friends are cars, meet WAWA 5.”
In a follow-up post, she revealed she was waiting for another car.
Judging from her posts, Lady Du owns a small fleet of cars. On Facebook, she wrote: “A girl must own a golf 7 if she’s ghetto, meet my number 5.”
Motlakawe wrote “I saw you eGermiston izolo eymotweni. Congratulations,” to which she responded: “That’s not the one I bought there. That one will land next month.”

Mosa commended her, saying: “You’re such an inspiration.”
She told Daily Sun she started making money when she was 10. “I am from a business-oriented background. From a young age I was taught no one was going to work for me. My father taught me how to make money work for me. At 10, I was already working as a DJ. I wasn’t making a lot but was already saving. By the time I turned 15, I bought my first car, it was a Honda Ballade.”
She said that same year, she started focusing on her music career. “At the age of 15 I’d taken a decision to take music seriously. It was no longer a hobby but I was treating my music as a business. I used the money I got from gigs to buy property. For example, I’d buy a vacant land and build flats. I’d then rent out the flat to tenants. This idea assured me a stable income.”
After this, she started buying cars.
“I have five cars and they include a Gusheshe, an i20 which I normally use for my company, Golf 7, an A3, a BMW 4 series and I am waiting for a BMW 6 series, which will arrive next month. I bought all these cars cash. I simply pick and choose which one I want to use. It also depends on the occasion.”
Apart from this, she also owns a two-bedroomed house but still wants to build a dream house for herself.
