AWARD-winning rapper Kwesta has donated a total of 15 laptops to the City of Ekurhuleni’s top-15 best performing Matrics2019 learners.
The rapper, whose real name is Senzo Vilakazi, handed over the laptops to the recipients at the Ekurhuleni Excellence Awards ceremony.
The ceremony was held on Wednesday in Alberton, on the East Rand.
These awards are held annually to celebrate top achievers of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality.
Speaking to Daily Sun Kwesta said: “Helping out where I can is something that I have been doing. I believe that a lot of children are denied an opportunity to excel because they lack resources, so this is to help them better their future.”
He said he believes that if he is in the position to help them he should do it anywhere and anytime.
“I don’t give a timeline to helping out but whenever I can and when the cause is worth it, then I do it.
“I help young people in Ekurhuleni a lot because it is home, therefore, it is simple to identify problems that young people are facing around here," he said.
The City of Ekurhuleni Twitter page posted: “Shout-Out to @KwestaDaKAR who has donated laptops to the City’s top 15 best performing #Matrics2019 learners from priority schools. His donations are through the #OneBusinessOneStudent program.”
