RAPPER KiD X has given Teko “The General” Modise’s book, The curse of Teko Modise, a thumbs up.

The book is about Teko’s rise to fame and how he fell from grace.

The preface of the book reads: “His downward spiral came when he went through a messy and public divorce, and developed a nasty drinking habit. It was at this stage that Teko was approached by a powerful medicine man, a king from Congo. This story tells it all – from poverty to fame, and love to divorce. It is the story of a fatherless father trying to make sense of parenthood, and a man who never had money trying to make sense of an abundance of wealth and the evils it brings. This all the while maintaining his status as the greatest South African footballer of the modern era.”

In his preview, KiD X described the book as inspirational, especially to up-and-coming footballers.

He believed it deserved to be adapted into a movie in order to reach a wide audience.

“I’ve had this book for about two years. I finally plucked up the courage to dive in. Wow, I was never ready. This story truly deserves a movie so it can reach a larger audience. If you’re an aspiring football player or just an avid fan of the game, you have to check it out. Thank you Sir @therealtekomodise for sharing your story, and inspiring millions to follow their dreams fearlessly. A different level of respect,” he wrote.

The comment was echoed by Shaun Gifted Sanderson, who wrote: “Definitely a jaw-dropper. I remember reading it cover to cover twice during the lockdown last year.”

Eunice Maseko commented: “Hey, this book left me speechless. I bought it three days after it was released.”

Emmanuel Nkosinathi Ndlovu applauded KiD X for supporting Teko.

“KiD X, big ups. If artists can adopt such mentality to promote without any expectation because of the greater good, the entertainment industry will prosper.”

Teko is one of the best footballers in South Africa, and has played for clubs including Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.

The book was written by Nikolaos Kirkinis and published in 2017.
