AWARD-WINNING gospel choir Joyous Celebration is calling for Mzansi to come together for a national prayer.
The choir will be hosting this event on Sunday, 31 October alongside a concert, their second Super Sunday show.
Super Sunday was launched last month, where the choir has an hour-long concert every last Sunday of the month.
Joyous co-founder Jabu Hlongwane said the prayer show was an invitation for the nation to pray for healing and the upcoming elections.
“The country has experienced numerous challenges since the first case of Covid-19 was identified on our shores at the beginning of last March. And while many people had high hopes for this year, for many individuals and the nation as a whole, it has proven to be an even more difficult year, so an afternoon of prayer and communal praise and worship seems just like what we all need to start our healing and recovery,” he said.

The prayer will be the choir’s first live show with a large audience and will be held at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, KZN.
Co-founder, conductor and producer Lindelani Mkhize said they were excited. “We are so thrilled to be returning to our home ground to present this show with our partner and title sponsor, MTN, and together we will look forward to bringing a buzz to the city and painting Durban yellow as our show is taking place the day after the MTN8 final at Moses Mabhida.
“We encourage all our supporters, fans and Joyous hopefuls out there not to miss the show and the opportunity to be anointed and be part of praying for healing for our beautiful nation.”
Said Lindelani: “We have an awesome show planned which includes local gospel acts, guest pastors, Joyous alumni and a major announcement bound to get many Joyous hopefuls excited – and that’s all I’m saying for now.”
