RETIRED soccer player and SuperSport soccer analyst Jabu Mahlangu was involved in an accident.

The crash occurred on Saturday morning, 22 January in Benoni, Ekurhuleni.

According to media reports, he was allegedly drunk and is in hospital, recovering.

City Press spoke to the former player’s lawyer Mabu Marweshe who confirmed the accident, but said he didn’t have the full details of the accident.

Marweshe said it looked like there was more than one vehicle involved.

“We have not seen him yet. The only thing we got from his brother was the confirmation that there was an accident in the early hours of the morning. It looks like there was more than one vehicle involved. They suspect that the occupants of the other vehicle might be injured too. Jabu is in the same hospital (with some of them),” Marweshe told City Press.

They also reported that Jabu allegedly left his car and fled from the scene because he feared for his life.

“He had to run because his car crashed into the taxi. He left it on the road and it was there for most of Saturday morning before it was removed,” a witness told the paper.

The people involved in the accident were taken to hospital.

Pictures said to be taken from the scene have been shared on social media and his car, alongside the taxi, are seen in the pictures.
