MARTIN Mphelo was a rising star, but he’s relapsed.

The musician, discovered by Mlindo the Vocalist and manager Nyiko Bilakul, has gone back to living on the streets.

Speaking to Daily Sun, Nyiko, who took Martin off the streets, said: “I was surprised and disappointed when I was told Martin was back on the streets. The last time I spoke to him, he had issues with his landlord. I told him we’d make a plan and would meet soon.”

Nyiko said although Martin had gone back to his old life, he was not giving up on him. I’ve spoken to my friends and we’re going to find him a rehab centre.

“First, I’m going to sit down with him and find out if that’s what he wants, to be rehabilitated, and also to ask him why he left the place I organised for him.”

Nyiko said the recording deal he got for Martin was going ahead. “Before he went back to the streets, we were in the studio, working on a song, which is going to be the title song for new Mzansi Magic drama series Vula Vala. We had to pause for a bit because he was not used to being in the studio or the equipment. Since this has happened, we decided to put everything on hold until we deal with his substance abuse.”

The SunTeam could not get hold of Martin for comment.
