ON Sunday, 26 September the Idols SA stars all fought to stay in the race.
It was sad news for Monique, who was eliminated at the beginning of the show.
The top 8 got a little motivation as former contestant, now superstar Lloyiso kickstarted the show with his hit single, Seasons.
M-Net local entertainment channels director Nomsa Philiso said: “Lloyiso’s success shows what an important platform for uncovering future stars the competition is. The Idols stage is a goldmine for talent.”
Karabo, Nqobie and S’22Kile started the competition in high spirits and left judges Unathi Nkayi, Randall Abrahams and guest judge Dineo Ranaka impressed.
Karabo performed US Idols season 3 winner Fantasia’s When I See U. Unathi sang her praises and said: “You do it again and again. You don’t leave anything unturned.”

Dineo said she loved Karabo.“I love your confidence – I am sold. Right out of the gate, you came out storming… very well done.”
Randall was just as impressed with Nqobie’s performance of Soa Mattrix and Soulful G’s Uthando, saying he loved her quiet cool, and she never has to try too hard. “I’ve never seen someone like you on this show.”
S’22kile sang Xola Moya Wam by Nomcebo Zikode, also winning over all the judges.
But Sia Mzizi, who sang Lloyiso’s Dream About You, and Daylin Sass, who sang Justin Bieber’s Yummy, got mixed reviews.
Berry’s rendition of Blinding Lights by The Weeknd also got mixed reactions.
The judges were, however, in agreement over Bulelani’s rendition of Uyeke by Heavy K featuring Natalia Mabaso, while Kevin’s version of Teni’s Case left them happy.
